Coming up at a time when many debate the pros and cons of Demonetisation, its  implementation and consequent effects on India’s economy, the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017 at Gujarat’s Gandhi Nagar saw investment pledges from the top business houses across nations. Over 100 countries participated in the 8th edition of this Summit, that was inaugurated by none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking at the Summit, Tata Sons chairman Ratan Tata, lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that as the country led by PM Modi approaches a new era, Gujarat will be one of the leading states with respect to development and progress.

At the event, the Reliance Industries CMD Mr. Mukesh Ambani read out numerics that drew loud cheers from one and all present at the gathering. Mukesh said that the cumulative investment in Gujarat was Rs 2.40 lakh crore, of which Rs 1.25 lakh crore has already been invested in the past 4 years.

When it comes to Gujarat’s investments, Adani’s as always remain at the forefront of commitment. Today too Mr. Gautam Adani, the chairman of Adani Enterprises read out that the company had invested Rs 48,000 crore in Gujarat in last 5 years. Besides Adani Ports, Gautam pledged to invest Rs 16,700 crore to expand the state’s ports in next 5 yrs.

Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation also said that its new automotive plant in Gujarat will start production from next month.

Emerson Electric Company CEO David Farr informed that the company would invest USD 200 million in India over the next three years.

During the occasion, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani informed that as many as 1.5 million new bank accounts have been opened and 7.5 million rupay debit cards issued in Gujarat post demonetisation.

Highlighting Cashless transactions, Vijay Rupani said that the state is gradually moving towards an era of digitisation with petrol pumps and LPG dealers adopting digital payments, while fair price shops and vegetable vendors are next on the list.

“Prime Minister has taken India towards clean and digital economy with his initiatives. We support his recent initiative… In a short time or two months, 1.5 million new bank accounts have been opened, 7.5 million rupay debit cards have been issued,” he said while addressing the Vibrant Gujarat Global summit here.

He said in the last one month 450 villages have been enabled for digital payments.

“Digital payments have become a mass movement in Gujarat.

We are confident that with the vision of Prime Minister we will make Gujarat and India more strong and vibrant,” Rupani said.
