Every other day the news of terrorist attacks, are flashed all across the TV screens and social media, I yet again, feel numbed beyond words. A Muslim myself, I see people who supposedly follow Islam, killing innocents all across the world. Well, to them I would say, nothing is more insulting to Allah than shouting Allah Hu Akbar and barbarically killing innocents. Be it Boko Haram, ISIS, Al Qaeda, Taliban, they are just using Islam, distorting the Quranic teachings to justify their killings.
I must mention here that the Qur’an is based on the concepts of kindness, love, morality, forgiveness, restraint, self-sacrifice, tolerance and peace, and a devout Muslim who rightly lives in accordance with these according to these moral edicts is humanity personified. He is someone who has all these values placed at the right place and uses them in abundance.
My Allah doesn’t ask for the blood of innocents nor does my Prophet need protection from satirical cartoons. But Islam needs protection from its self-proclaimed protectors who kill at the drop of a hat! Prophet himself says, “The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger”
Quran also mentions:
To be one of those who believe and urge each other to steadfastness and urge each other to compassion. Those are the Companions of the Right. (Surat al-Balad: 17-18)
Then why is there so much of bloodshed in the name of Islam? Which Quran are these terrorists reading and interpreting for their own selfish means? To put simply these terrorists, have no religion. They are an insult to the humanity, always busy spreading and promoting hatred.
Prophet Mohammed himself dealt with numerous insults in his lifetime in the most dignifying manner. I am sure he himself would have laughed off these cartoons. But it’s not the Prophet I am worried about, it’s the so called, saviors of Islam who are penetrating at the grassroots levels of our social fabric and inciting violence.
This is where, the responsibility of educated, civilized Muslims step in. Now is the time for you stand up against these perpetrators of worst possible crimes in the name of Islam. You, me, everyone, needs to just put a STOP to these mindless killings. How? Look around you, if you see people preaching and practicing things you don’t agree with, in the name of Allah, report the matter, immediately. All religious leaders, need to send out messages of peace and brotherhood after every namaz. Young minds are easily influenced, this is where the main target of all these terrorist organizations lies. This has been doubly verified by the unbelievably large number of youth from all across the world joining ISIS, on a daily basis.
This is where the role of mothers also come in. Dear mothers, inscribe very strong values of humanity and harmony in your child’s psyche. So strong should be your teachings that no one, no matter how learned or influential he is, is able to influence your child. We all need to understand that Islamic terrorism is doing more harm to Islam and Muslims all across the world than to anyone else.
Let us all join hands and save our beautiful religion from terrorists.
