MG Motor India has recently launched the 2022 ZS EV, the facelift version of its all-electric car ZS EV. It’s the sole electric vehicle offering from the company in India. The facelift version will feature a host of cutting-edge features, redesigned exterior, along with updated powertrain setup and enhanced range.

The crossover will be rolling out of MG Motors’ manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat. It will be available in two trims, priced between ₹ 22 lakh to ₹ 25 lakh (ex-showroom India) and will be competing against Hyundai Kona electric.

2022 MG ZS EV Exterior Design (4.5/5)

2022 ZS EV gets a few major styling updates, such as redesigned bumpers and the most noticeable being the new body-coloured front grille. Moreover, company has changed the placement of charging port that is now placed next to the MG badge in the front. This EV gets headlamps, integrated LED DRLs, and LED taillamps similar to Astor. It also features newly-designed 17-inch alloy wheels, complementing the clean and elegant exterior of car. The India-bound EV is based on the new ZS EV, unveiled by MG globally last year. It features panoramic sunroof, accompanied by roof rails that adds a bold character to the car. Overall, the exterior design looks premium and futuristic.

2022 MG ZS EV Dimension (5/5)

There’s no doubt that ZS EV is probably the best product in the segment. And, this car outshines its major competition, Hyundai Kona Electric in terms of dimensions. The EV measures 4314 mm in length, 1620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2585 mm.

With 1809 mm of width, it is capable of accommodating 5 passengers with ease. Additionally, its ground clearance is like icing on the cake, as it sits 205 mm above the ground, which is comparable to most segment leading and highly-capable SUVs. Moreover, it comes with a boot space of 470 litres which is a great number.

2022 MG ZS EV Interior (4/5)

The interior of 2022 MG ZS EV gets a few notable changes. The major update here is the larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster similar to the Astor. The redesigned interior also features a new faux carbon-fibre trim around the dashboard that looks appealing. The EV also gets revised climate control buttons identical to the Astor. However, there are a few elements that remain same as before such as rotary dial gear knob, driving modes and braking regeneration level switches. Furthermore, it gets several advanced features such as wireless charging, an AI assistant, 360-degree camera and various safety features. Moreover, this car is equipped with electrically adjustable driver’s seat, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers, along with connected car technology with 75 connected car features. It also comes with a leather wrapped steering wheel, and the seat comfort is excellent, so you won’t feel tired even after driving it in peak traffic or while going for a long trip.

2022 MG ZS EV Safety Features (5/5)

MG is known for providing high-level safety in all their cars, by offering solid build quality and multiple safety features. 2022 ZS EV is equipped with numerous safety features, including six airbags and all four-disc brakes as standard. It also gets tyre pressure monitoring system and hill start/ descent control. Electronic stability control comes standard in this car. And, this time the EV also gets a level 2 ADAS system similar to its petrol twin, Astor with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian warning system, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist. Overall, MG has done a great job in terms of safety with no compromise in the material quality and safety features. So, you can rest assured and drive with a peace of mind as far as safety of the passengers is concerned.

2022 MG ZS EV Electric Motor and Battery Pack (4.5/5)

The company makes no changes to the electric motor. It gets the same PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor), capable of producing a peak power output of 141 BHP and 353 Nm of torque. However, MG has replaced the 44.5 kWh battery pack with a 51 kWh to increase the EV’s range from 419 km to 500 km on a single charge. The company claims that 2022 ZS EV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 175 km/h. So, you are surely going to love driving this car, as it offers enhanced performance and increased range as compared to the previous model.

2022-mg-zs-ev-facelift-reviewMG Motor India finally gives a slight makeover to their sole electric car in India, by launching facelift version of the ZS EV. It gets a host of ultra-modern features, similar to Astor along with the new 51.3 kWh battery to enhance the performance and range of the EV. With some changes in the design language, it looks even more appealing than previous model. In the end, 2022 ZS EV offers a great overall package and is probably the best product in the segment.

  1. I think the price is too high for majority of us Indians to afford this MG ZS EV except for those who already own BMW’s and Merc’s. What about Electric Cars in the 7 lacs to 15 lacs range. How many are available in India. Any new launches in this cost range? Pls tell
