In a case that has left officials in Uttar Pradesh absolutely stumped, police have recovered an 8-year-old girl living with monkeys with no human contact in the Motipur range of Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary of Bahraich.
The police said she was found with a troop of monkeys about two months ago by sub-inspector Suresh Yadav during a patrol in the Motipur range of the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary.
According to reports, when Suresh Yadav tried to rescue the girl, who seemed comfortable with the monkeys, she screeched at him. However, she was rescued by the cop and taken to a district hospital.
The girl can neither speak nor understand any language, and even gets scared at the sight of human beings.
“The girl was found two months back, eats and walks like animals, and runs away on seeing humans,” Chief Medical Officer DK Singh was quoted by Scroll as saying.
“She has marks on her skin, looks like she has lived with animals for quite some time. Now she is better and healthy, showing improvement,” he added.
The doctors treating the girl said that she often gets violent. They also said that she still eats directly from her mouth. While she has been trained to walk on her legs, at times she walks like animals using her hands and legs together.
