Air India, India’s premier global airline, has become the first Indian airline to offer in-flight Wi-Fi internet connectivity on domestic flights. The service is now available on Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and select Airbus A321neo aircraft.
This landmark development allows travelers, whether flying for business or leisure, to stay connected during their flights. Passengers can browse the internet, access social media, catch up on work, or stay in touch with friends and family in real time.
“Connectivity is now an integral part of modern travel. For some, it is about the convenience and comfort of real-time sharing, while for others, it is about greater productivity and efficiency. Whatever one’s purpose, we are confident that our guests will appreciate the option to connect to the web and enjoy the new Air India experience on board these aircraft,” said Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer, Air India.
The in-flight Wi-Fi service is compatible with Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones operating on iOS or Android systems. Guests can also connect multiple devices simultaneously once the aircraft reaches an altitude of 10,000 feet*.
The rollout of in-flight Wi-Fi on domestic routes follows a successful pilot program on international flights operated by the Airbus A350, select Airbus A321neo, and Boeing 787-9 aircraft. These services have been available on routes to major international destinations, including New York, London, Paris, and Singapore. Like the domestic offering, international Wi-Fi services are complimentary for an introductory period. Air India plans to expand this service across its fleet progressively.
How to Access Wi-Fi on Air India Flights
- Enable Wi-Fi and open the device’s Wi-Fi settings.
- Select the ‘Air India Wi-Fi’ network.
- You will be redirected to the Air India portal in your device’s default browser.
- Enter the required details, such as your PNR and last name.
- Enjoy complimentary internet access.
In-flight Wi-Fi connections depend on factors such as satellite connectivity, overall bandwidth usage, flight routes, and government restrictions.
