Cornell University, Ithaca, NY: Indian student, Aalaap Narasipura from the Cornell University in Ithaca, New York who had been missing for the past 2 days, with police mounting round the clock searches, circumstantially seems to have committed suicide.
Authorities recovered a body from the area of Fall Creek, just upstream from Ithaca Falls, New York, on Friday morning and later confirmed the deceased’s identity as 20-year-old Aalaap Narasipura, according to the Cornell University Police Department.
The circumstances of Narasipura’s death remain under investigation, but police said they don’t suspect any foul play. No specific reason could be ascertained but apparently it seems the pressure of the Finals week that could have driven the 20 year old to suicide.
Aalaap Narasipura, 20, was last seen in Sage Hall on Cornell’s campus Wednesday morning between 2 and 3 a.m. ET, according to the Cornell University Police Department.
State and local authorities from multiple agencies had searched Narasipura’s residence, academic spaces and regular routes of travel as well as adjacent natural areas and gorges around the Ivy League university.
Earlier Police had released a photo and description of Narasipura in hopes that members of the public who may have recently seen him could provide any leads. The student is described as a dark-skinned male, 5-feet-9 inches tall, 121 pounds, black hair and brown eyes.
Police earlier had said Narasipura was last seen wearing shorts and a flannel shirt with bright blue socks and leather sandals. He may have been carrying an earth-tone backpack.
