Learning to code, no matter which path a child chooses is extremely important today. Research shows us that this knowledge will be essential in any career. As a female technology leader and mother of a 10-year-old boy, I am acutely aware of its critical importance in both my professional and personal life. Programming is a necessary literacy in this technological age.
Computer programming is part of everything and is present everywhere in the world around us. Logical and mechanical advancements are the foundations of our worldwide financial framework. Our economy, our prosperity, everything relies upon this.
This is critical not simply in creative regions. Coding is key in collecting, clinical consideration, and cultivation. Essentially every industry has a coding part.
How can I get started?
Parents’ job is to promote the interests of children and develop their life skills. My personal philosophy is to get kids to write early and have fun doing it!
As we all know, learning by doing is much more effective. Children are curious from birth and love to explore. They love discoveries, collecting things, exploring them, sniffing them, touching them, and asking what they are for.
There is no mystique in programming
Programming is easier than you think! Programming is extremely easy for children to understand and thus basic skills can be learned after a short introduction and some study.
This basic knowledge helps children interact with technologies around them, rather than passively use them. Through this quick skill, they build their self-confidence. As children become more confident, it encourages them to delve deeper into programming and learn more.
Programming develops and promotes creativity
The reality is that technology will advance at lightning speed in the future, but the skill set that a child develops from learning to programming will last a lifetime. Children develop creativity through experimentation and making mistakes. Through training in programming, they learn that there are several ways to do something. Just keep trying!
One of my favorite quotes from Margaret Mead: “Children should be taught to think, not to think about thinking.” Programming teaches children how to think.
Programming is like learning a new language!
Learning a new language forms a different way for children to communicate. The child is very interested in learning how to communicate more directly with the technology around them. As with learning any language, children should learn to code at an early age.
Programming teaches logical thinking and strengthens both written and oral skills. Children who learn to code have a better understanding of how to organize their thoughts. Programming is a language skill that opens up the world for children.
Programming helps kids with math
Figuring out how to program assists youngsters with envisioning theoretical ideas. Through programming, youngsters figure out how to apply science to true issues and to plan effective fixes.

Programming teaches collaboration
In a creative environment, there are no right answers and no guidebooks. Through the discipline of programming, children seek validation from their peers and tend to work in groups. They learn to cooperate, give and receive criticism in a positive way, and incorporate feedback into their actions.
Developing these skills is extremely important in their later life and career, as is the understanding that there are many solutions to the same problem. Through programming, children learn that asking the right questions is sometimes more important than giving the right answers.
Why is programming important to me?
As an innovator in the tech space, I want the new generation to feel confident in the technology and feel comfortable working with it, rather than becoming attached to it and passively consuming it.
Learning to program is critical in this process. As a mother, I plan to encourage my child to learn to program and keep developing and expanding their skills for as long as possible, and I encourage him not to give in to any moments of frustration. I want him to go beyond his capabilities as often as possible and get the corresponding benefits.
For parents looking to increase their kids’ coding sensitivity, I’ve personally found that local libraries, museums, summer camps, and learning centers have great programs to complement what their kids learn in school. Various STEM-related products are also available. There are further online coding platforms that teach coding to kids with their expertise.
The role of the educator
I believe that the importance of educational programming should be understood by educators. Educators know that math and science, while fun and exciting, can help students do more than just learn.
Learning “through play” and “by doing” is crucial – it’s fun and rewarding. The learning of the program must be tailored to the student’s abilities and educational level. This type of subject modification and evolution by educators is critical in the learning process.
Almost every future job will require a basic understanding of math, science, and software. However, as an employer, I still find it challenging to complete programming tasks.
